Fitznik
![]() The controls are simple, the puzzles increasingly fiendish as you progress though the game. It is also a great game for watching over the shoulder of a friend. Every level in Fitznik is an intellectual puzzle. If the player knows the solution, the level will be easy to solve. Arcade reflexes are not required. Players can adjust the speed of the game to their preference. If you get stuck you can always enter a code and see the solution.
Requirements
Windows 500Mhz processor or faster. A brain A friends brain. (optional) Snacks

Thanks JayIsGames for the GameTrove site discovery.
I've not downloaded a game in quite a while, having tired of that and instead preferring to play exclusively online. But the Fitznik description got me with "intellectual puzzle".
I'm very impressed with the quality of Fitznik. Clearly much thought and care was put into the game dialogue, instructions, info spots, graphics, music and gameplay. Even the smallest of details appear to have been considered, tested, and tweaked to their best.
Of countless of demos played, this is one of few where the reminder to purchase is not obtrusive, irritating or an obstacle to gameplay. The nudge to upgrade is visible during demo play, but I actually like it there. Fitznik found the perfect way to remind us that additional levels can be purchased while not slowing down play progress.
Graphics and navigation could be characterized as arcade-like, but don't assume "arcade" means poor quality, as that is not the case here. As I explore and play, Fitznik gives an aura of "we care about quality."
A pet peeve of mine is misspelled dialogue, and we have none of that mess in Fitznik. When I was viciously murdered by a venom-spitting snake, I actually laughed, smiled, and agreed with the game's response to my poor decision-making.
The instructions and guides are well written and well placed. When that nasty snake got me, I knew immediately to press "R" for a speedy level restart. There's no suffering with death in Fitznik. The developers know we're sometimes going to fail, and they've made it super easy, rather than punishing, to restart a level. No forcing players to restart the entire game from level 1 if you're on level whatever.
Fitznik is fun, challenging, and has oodles of levels, so I expect to be buying the full version.
